huh… I thought if you are a citizen and someone marries you, they get to stick around… or is that only if they plop a kid out before the visa expires? I hate the way the Immigration laws of my country are set up and do not relish trying to wade through other countries’ laws…

So wait, we can’t take money if it’s for non-comic related issues? So if I was a plumber, I could only spend my paycheque on fixing my toilet? If I spent it on, say, rent, I would have received money for “non-plumbing related issues”. You make no sense.

As far as the donating EN reader is concerned, he or she is providing a small chunk of change because he or she appreciates Exterminatus Now. End of story. Where that money goes afterward shouldn’t matter.

As it happens, a small number of people do donate without prompting, and our hosting is entirely covered by that. Now the fact is, Lothar didn’t want to take from that collective pot, because that money is going to be reinvested into EN, in the form of hosting, ad space, and – spoiler alert – shirt and book printing. So, he put out a specific call. That way, if people felt like contributing to that specific cause, they could do so. If that cause doesn’t appeal, take a pass. It won’t affect EN, and nobody’s getting deported. Except maybe YOU, back to GRUMPYTOWN (zing).

Yes, the donations have nothing to do with the comics… but it’s not in the comic itself, it’s just in the news section… so why the rage? It’s not like it’s tied into the comic itself, where the characters are asking for donations or anything silly. It’s just a small titbit in a news post. Seriously, there is no need for you to come riding in on your high horse and purposely trying to bring people down and making comments about the ‘irresponsibility’ or ‘enjoy your deported gf’ (btw it’s wife if you bothered to read) all of which were unnecessary for you to make your point, but did so out of malice.

Don’t want to donate? Don’t donate. Simple. Maybe they don’t have the time to provide services, or maybe they’re busy with other stuff. Who knows? For a newlywed, 1000 bucks is a bit of a burden, so what’s wrong with them asking for help even if they saved up for it? Other bills do exist, you know, it’s not just the visa or permits or whatever, I imagine they have a place to pay for, bills, gas, insurance, and not to mention if something breaks down or needs replacing, that costs money, too.

Only those who can and want to will donate, even if they can and don’t want to they’re not demanding it. They’re not holding the comic hostage; they’re not saying that until they get the money they won’t shell out more free comics, hell they’re not even saying that she will get deported, that they just need a bit of help. That’s it. There’s nothing more to it. Honestly, I think you’re being overly dramatic about a little donation button on some random webcomic on the internet.

No one’s forcing anyone’s hand, or making it into a big deal. Actually, you’re the only one that’s made this into this a lot more dramatic than it really is. If you don’t agree, fair enough, but for you to go on this page and tell the owners how they should feel (because of your own personal opinion), insult them, and then call one of them a liar just because you were ‘corrected’ on one detail is just stupid on your part.

I can understand why you might feel this way, but at the end of the day I just thought I would ask if anyone would mind helping. If people gave nothing, fine. Considering Virus did the same thing a year ago and it helped him and his partner, I actually asked the other 3 members of the EN crew if I could do the same. But hey, I guess it’s OK for him to do it and not me right?

The problem is that the donations have absolutely, utterly nothing to do with the comic. That is entirely the issue at hand. People will stick up for him, because that’s what fanboys do, but on the grand scale of things… if this wasn’t a problem, he wouldn’t be asking for people to give him money. He is lying through his teeth saying “Oh I can handle this, I’m responsible.” Nobody just shamelessly asks for the readers of a comic to cover an expense that is utterly unrelated to that comic, unless they are pants-on-head retarded, or desperate. Loth can say “Oh I can cover it easily” all day. But if that was the case, why is he doing this? It’s bullshit, and he needs the money- that’s why. We all have our troubles in life. There are better routes for seeking financial assistance than begging off your comic’s readers for non-comic-related issues!
