I’m still backing my original theory. Remember at the start of the arc the conspiracy theorist was pointing to the signs that this cult had its images everywhere over a long period of time? What if this was a slow-burn summoning taking place over the course of centuries? The Inquisition wouldn’t detect it because there’d be nothing to detect, she was slowly manifesting over time, her spirit was active in the world for centuries getting things into position, the actions at this monastary were just the cult dotting its ‘i’s and crossing its ‘t’s. The princess is manifest, Virus is kinda boned unless he does something.

Personally, I’m going with this:

The reason the Inquisition hasn’t detected Vitani yet is because she ISN’T manifest yet, any more than those pilgrims were alive. This body she’s showing is a powerful illusion she’s created to interact with the mortal world until such time as she can manifest for realsies.

… And I just looked down and noticed this is exactly what Deltarno is saying. Crud.

Okay, different theories. They said early that this demon has a global cult, right? Maybe she was able to incarnate by spreading the power used to summon her over a vast area. It wouldn’t look like a demon summoning because the thousands of mortals sacrificed weren’t concentrated enough to register as even a blip on the Inquisition’s radar. It’s also possible she can ‘store’ the sacrifice energy for later use.

Or perhaps, as the weaver of lies, she’s just that good at hiding her presence and/or has found a way around the Inquisition’s methods of detection.
