It was Morth’s personal ties to Eastwood that necessarily made him a bigger starring villain than any before, setting him up for a longer arc and a recurring role. Patternaris had an unfair advantage with a player like that on their team.

Now if we’d planned things out methodically, we may have had more representation from the other factions in the interim. But EN is in large part made from whatever we had lying around, and Morth and Vitani are both older than the comic. We wanted to work her in too, and it’s better to have characters and plots that interact strongly and personally with the characters than to force a balance between factions just for sake of having such a balance.

But, that’s why smart people refer to them as anthropomorphic comics. You mention the word furry the immediate thought is Pr0n not high concept fantasy. Although, to be fair I am a fan of transformation and there is fair amount of dehumanizing torture, sadism, mental illness and ignorance involved. But, there’s a ton of crazy funny stuff, like ‘Ranma’ or ‘Gonna Be the Twin Tail’ that’s innocently evil. Don’t believe me check it out…

Lothar seems to sympathize a little with the cultists in the fifth panel. Almost as if he had a “tough gig” with a Daemon once.

And the first time he appeared in the comic he was chilling out in the headquarters of a Daemonic cult.

I wonder if we’ll ever see a flashback about his times as a hired gun for some heretical organization.

I think part of the reason is that the Patterner underlings and human adepts rally have nothing to do other than plot and scheme, and try to get ahead. Thus, one is likely to see more plots from that lot.
