I think I’d rather trust Lothar with them. Sure he might turn on you and one day use them to kill you if the price is right…But at least he’s not an idiot who might end up shooting you because he was bored and his gun is shiney…
“…and is that a grenade launcher on the front?”

“Oh, what, too pussy to load anything other than flashbangs?”
Come forth dark lord Kevin…… There is just no way to make that sound evil and forboding at all. I might as well try and invoke the wrath of a teletubby.
Thanks. Sometimes I’ll struggle with a foreshortened panel for a long time to get it how I want, but that one kind of surprised me, somehow it came out quite easily.
Awesome perspective here! I wish there was a different way to position the word bubbles in the second to last panel, though. They’re covering up a pretty fantastic panel there.
On an unrelated note, I have never realized how yellow Morth’s teeth are. Brush at least once in a while, dude!
Well.. they are on a ledge right? I would have Luthor slag the floor AROUND the circle… either 1. The circle breaks and Eastwood kills him. 2. He falls to his death. 4 no wait… 3. He falls out the circle and blam blam, or 4. Circle is broken and Kevin eats him as he comes through… still leads to us all being ROYALLY screwed… but at least no God Tier for Morth.
Y’kno it may be just me but Morth does seem a lot more calm and collected then he was during their last encounter.
Then again he doesn’t have a horde of idiots around him this time…come and think of it where did his handmaiden and the two thugs go?
To be fair, in their last encounter, the guys blew the roof off his fortress and rappelled in with a Black Guard platoon. Would stress a dude out.
I nearly had Rogue and Loth take out the thugs as they enter in panel 2. But there was enough going on in the comic already, and I got lazy. You can see how Rogue is looking off to the side, not at Morth. So at least somebody’s over there, off-frame.
Sadly the circle does not protect him from Eastwood’s remembering Kevin’s name.
I mean come on, Morth had a totally awesome pose with the green hell fire that was perfectly timed for a cool reveal… and then Eastwood puts him in his place.
I like how Morth mentions his spies, telling us how he knew Eastwood had the bookend and revealing how none of the other inquisitors knew about/could find him.
Hah! Nice to see someone get it right for a change. The *summoner* goes inside the circle, not the demon – you have no idea how many comics get that backwards.
Don’t know, some series have circles for both the summoner and the demon.
And actually I think some “real-world” schools of magic state that the pentagram is to confine the summoned… thing so that it doesn’t kill the summoner. Seeing as the Satanic Bible denounces that as cowardice (a true Satanist would stand in the circle with the conjured spirits and subdue them by force of will alone)
No, I’m sure the magic the summoner uses is enough to sustain the summoned once it eats it for a while… A few weeks, at least, if the summoner is capable of summoning anything capable of killing him.
It’s just that I would be pretty certain the summoned would survive LONGER if he didn’t hastily gorge himself and let the summoner feed him magic SLOWLY, letting it regenerate, providing more.
I was thinking:
If Morth is thinking of getting Kevin into his body(for a possession, it is necessary), Virus, who is in the pit, will get Kevin instead of Silas beacuse he is nearer, no?
Teletubbies!
*Washes mouth and typing hands with industrial grade solvent and explosives*
Of course, a Patterner Demongod would have anticipated that his minion would predict he’d try to backstab him (as Morth anticipated that whats-his-name would anticipate Morth trying to backstab him), and have thousands of plans to prevent this, so that his own backstab goes smoothly, so….
Well, when they rappelled in from the roof, they apparently knew Morth had said ‘i didn’t expect a mobian inquisition’. So they might have heard Jamilla say ‘did you all know the demon you’re summoning is named kevin?’ or they may have heard the various cultists talking about it.
Okay Virus, any time now!
Boy, east, you sure do have a grdge against Morth. Course, I can understand you being upset about Marley. Poor sod.
Oh the anticipation!
As a demonolator (or evil cultist if you will) I find this arc hilarious. It’s interesting to see how Morth chose to make such a small protective circle for himself before attempting the summoning.
lol He’s never gonna live it down that his demon is named Kevin is he.?
Well Virus looks like it’s up to you…. don’t mess up. :)
I´d say it´s a sure thing that he messed up… can’t wait to see how bad^^
Eastwood is actually a pretty accurate shot when properly motivated.
yea… it’s a shame that magic > guns. You’d think the organization he works for would have anti magic weapons.
What makes you think they don’t?
What makes you think they’d trust Eastwood, of all people, with them?
I think I’d rather trust Lothar with them. Sure he might turn on you and one day use them to kill you if the price is right…But at least he’s not an idiot who might end up shooting you because he was bored and his gun is shiney…
Actually I would bet Lothar would shoot a weapon because he is bored and it is shiny ;)
Bored, yes. I think he’d care more about the size of the explosion than the weapon being shiny.

Shit eh – those Teletubbys are scary!
Have you seen their vacuum? It’s not natural! But damn do I want one :P
its just like how there’s no angry way to say “bubbles”
Just want to say that the panel where Eastwood shoots is the shit. That odd perspective can’t have been easy to draw.
Thanks. Sometimes I’ll struggle with a foreshortened panel for a long time to get it how I want, but that one kind of surprised me, somehow it came out quite easily.

Thanks! Here’s that panel without text.

You mean Lothar? Pretty sure he’s not a Superman villain mate.
Lothar stole forty pies. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s terrible.
What was worse was him giving most of them back after adding powdered chocolate laxative to the top.
Green Kryptonite and Red Solar Lamps! The colors of Christmas! And you’re on the naughty…
You know what? Screw this. *Buzz saw*

It also helps that Morth is one suave motherfucker to begin with.
about the afore mentioned rappeling scene. ever thought of making that ” no one sees (persona3) the inqis. coming” part a wallpaper?
Sadly the circle does not protect him from Eastwood’s remembering Kevin’s name.

Does the summoned disappear if the summoner is killed? Because it seems like a lot of demon summonings would quickly resolve themselves.
No, I’m sure the magic the summoner uses is enough to sustain the summoned once it eats it for a while… A few weeks, at least, if the summoner is capable of summoning anything capable of killing him.

Looks like Eastwood…
*puts on sunglasses*
…is playing Dirty Harry.
*YYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH*
I was thinking:
If Morth is thinking of getting Kevin into his body(for a possession, it is necessary), Virus, who is in the pit, will get Kevin instead of Silas beacuse he is nearer, no?
Or if Kevin wants to backstab Morth… Patterner Demongod after all. Not super happy friendship demon god… I hope those don’t exist…
Teletubbies!
*Washes mouth and typing hands with industrial grade solvent and explosives*

Has anybody else noticed that parts of Morth’s robe go outside the circle? Does that mean the demon could grab those and pull him out?
Not sure if it really works that way… Maybe? But then again, he has his arms out stretched in the panel I think you’re referring to.
He’s an insane megalomaniac. There will be MUCH arm outstretching :P
WORK FASTER VIRUS!
Eastwood must’ve read Jamilla’s report from last time. Couldn’t have known what the demon’s name was otherwise.
I think.
Well, when they rappelled in from the roof, they apparently knew Morth had said ‘i didn’t expect a mobian inquisition’. So they might have heard Jamilla say ‘did you all know the demon you’re summoning is named kevin?’ or they may have heard the various cultists talking about it.
Or yeah, could’ve read the report.
I love the old left-turn-in-the-last-panel gag, and you guys are masters at it. I can’t wait to see how the team will screw THIS one up.
You’re saying they haven’t screwed up already?
I draw near? Cool! :D
I’m going to miss Morth when all of this is inevitably over… =^= Cool dude. Great sense of humor. Shame about trying to conquer the universe, though.
Okay Virus, any time now!

Huzzah my favourite Demon is incoming, Woo!
