Of all the animals I’ve seen in this comic, I don’t believe I’ve seen a monkey before.
Has there been one?
There was and not too long ago : “Lord Boothroyd” who gave the EN crew their last mission was a monkey.
Oh that’s right.
Don’t know why the hell I forgot that
I thought he was an ape… (No Tail)
What about the board of cereal magnates? Is that one not part of the continuity? It occurred fairly recently durring the cola wars.
You gentlemen are correct, I was going to point to those two cases. Yeah, Lord Boothroyd is a chimp, not technically munkey. And the Big Cereal boardroom may have just been in Eastwood’s imagination, who knows. But Coco Monkey was present.
They have all had the greatest facial expressions lately… Really enjoying the artwork.
Thanks!
The wall of differences between these teams is really piling up. Thanks for another great comic guys.
I still suspect Hal and Rogue traveled sideways through time and either fused together somehow or had a child together.
Interesting theory.
Why is monkey dressed like DBZ Character?
I may be wrong, but he looks like he’s dressed like the classical Chinese character Monkey – right down to the ‘magical’ staff… Could be wrong though :)
No, I think you might be on to something there. He does look like a take on the Monkey King of Chinese folklore… Only with a DBZ flair to it for reference’s sake. DBZ was based on tales of the Monkey King, specifically Journey to the West, so it makes a whole lot of sense.
Consider me suitably impressed. While I wasn’t exactly intending the referances to be /subtle/, I also didn’t actually expect anybody to call them both, especially so quickly.
I can say LG was officially the first to call Dragonball. Over my shoulder, long before the comic went live.
I bloody love Journey to the West :)
Why don’t they lure it out onto the highway? Even if it regenerated after getting hit by a 5-ton truck, it would be severely inconvenienced for a while, and the gasoline explosion might cause it some trouble with said regenerating….
Damien’s team maintains a better track record for civilian casualties and breaches of secrecy protocol than Eastwood’s.
I think all OTHER teams maintain a better track record for civilian casualties and breaches of secrecy protocol than Eastwood’s.
Probably even the clean up crews for when Exterminatus is too much…
To be frank, wmd’s probably have fewer civilian casualties and cause fewer secrecy breaches than the Eastwood’s squad…..
I dunno, that’s a bit of a stretch.
Remember the research facility they imploded?
The guy who got hit by the train?
The Morth->Demon evolution? (long term, that is bad)
The Demon hunters that Lothar’s Prostetics killed?
Oh yeah, and since I do not want to forget it, one word:
Blasphemy.
I swear that little f**ker has probably killed more people (overall) than the team has on that one time he was left at the kennel.
Well, the facility was not really their own fault, Wildfire did that and got beaten into a full body cast for it.
Lothar’s prostetics being possessed by a demon was not their fault, either, and they took him out fairly quickly.
They tried to stop Morth’s transformation, but did not succeed.
All in all, yes, they were present at those events, but no, they were not directly at fault.
(Further point at Morth’s: They avoided the first chance for ascension.
Lack of knowledge enabled the second to work, but without them, the first would have worked anyway)
WMD’s can only be used once before you need to make another. These guys survive.
Oh, I also forgot the thousand or so souls in the bookend of evil.
The Bookend was not their fault; it was created and fueled a very long time ago.
And WMDs kill between thousands and millions. While the EN crew have a lot of collateral, they can’t match up to that just yet. I’d estimate a few hundred so far, but not a million.
In addition, I doubt the Inquisition keeps ONE WMD around and just replaces it when they use it. They’ve likely got many stockpiled in the event a worst case scenario comes about.
Would you not consider the Exterminatus Platform itself to be a WMD? Because I would, and they only have one of those. They only need the one, generally speaking.
Ok. I condede. The eastwood squad has not done WMD-levels of collateral damage, yet, but they COULD.
JUST FOR CL4R1F1C4T1ON, TH3S3 GUYS 4R3 TH3 4LT3RN4T3 COMP4R1SON FOR 1F TH3 M41N G4NG W3R3 4CTU4LLY COMP3NT3NT 4ND COOP3R4T1V3, R1GHT?
Uh no, they exist in the same universe, as seen in a ‘reunion’ scene of sorts, wherein Eastwood falls prey to the bat cyborg guy’s shameless self promotional ‘tales’ that he tends to bring up as much as possible. And then makes Virus the victim while he runs off, having dealt with that crap far too much to stand the guy anymore.
different relationships…
Oh, I see you forgot highlights on Korvos’s (?) glasses. Oh, well, maybe forget ^_^”
And… Kurva? Oh, Goood…. I hope you know another translation of that word ХD !
Love that one, nice work, guys!
Kurva (Kurwa) is polish curseword. Similar to Fuck buth means prostitute instead of sexual act ^^
Guys, guys, I know exactly what Tempest is. He is a Wukong Expy.
Kurva! :) Hungarian, or slovakian one? :)
Rodinian!
…Okay, Russian.
Russian?Well, we have this word, but it is not common in our language, we say [шлюха] (Use google translate). And I’ve never heard that we say “kurva” . I think “kurva” – it’s an Albanian word. I think… And it’s means “bitc…erm, you understand me :)
Niles on the forum said it didn’t fit well either. I guess I was misinformed. I really should consult you guys in future, instead of Google!
Of course, anytime.

Kurwa is from Polish :D
This alternate team is a lot more skilled, efficient and functional than the EN team.
They’re gonna get wiped out or something really horrible at some point. Calling it now.
You mean something like their leadership deciding to partner these two teams up?
I forsee some Henchman #1 shenanigans going down if that ever happens.
Except I doubt that half the ‘A Team’ will take any of the EN Team’s bullshit. At least #1 still considered #21 and #24 allies that he would have to put up with, at least until the mission was complete.
Oh hell no, they’re smart enough to know that partnering people up with the EN team will definitely get them killed and wasted.
you know, I’ve been wondering, if Lothar is supposed to be the last echidna on mobius, then what the hell does that make Korvos?
Porcupine
Correct.
dammit, why didn,t I think of that?
dammit, why didn’t I think of that?
Wait a minute, doesn’t have anything worth taking!? HE HAS A FREAKIN’ LIGHTSABER!!
The other members of the EN crew took that before. They used it as a lamp, to slice bread, and to poke holes in the women’s locker room wall. Plus, they can’t easily recharge it once it runs out of power.
I love seeing these guys in the comic. They’re such a great example of a team.
Ha, you’re right, I totally should have drawn it on his belt.
WHO S4YS LOTH4R COULDN’T H4V3 B33N LY1NG 4ND K3PT 1T FOR H1MS3LF W1THOUT T3LL1NG TH3 OTH3RS? 1F 3V3N JUST 4DD1NG TH4T L1TTL3 “4ND SCR3W YOU TOO” F33L1NG TO 1T.
While entirely possible, I suspect it’s much more likely that Rogue does not, in fact, own anything of value that he doesn’t carry with him at all times. :)
*checks* Ok, why is Rouge flipping off the crew? Or rather, what did they do this time?
The real question is: What didn’t they do?
well I dont see rouge, flipping anyone off, I do see ROGUE giving his team the finger though
Did that guy just swear in Polish?
Sure. In Hungarian, Slovakian, and maybe Russian, too.
It always impresses me how likeable and unique these barely seen characters are.
We enjoy them, too.
I think Lother’s Rolf Harris theory issue might need a reprint with the latest news :D
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/apr/19/rolf-harris-arrested-operation-yewtree-police
Yeah, it came up on Twitter. He’s not been charged with anything yet, and we all agreed that we hope it’s a false alarm. Not really a grinning matter D:
I was just re-reading that comic, and it’s disturbing how prescient it is now with Harris being convicted.
Ehh,what animal is Damien?
A kind of short-tailed ground squirrel or something. Some sort of rodent, at least.
Oh, okey. I noticed that he looked like Sally Acorn.
What kind of Daemon is that? It looks like a Patternari, just going by coloration. Most daemons have colors aligning to their deity, except possibly the Soulthirster.
Heh, good question. This script basically had *insert random daemon here*. One day I was poking about in an old harddrive and came across a few screengrabs of a creature I made in EA/Maxis’ Spore. It was one of my favourite Spore creations, and it seemed to fit the bill quite nicely. I still have the thumbnail: http://www.perfectlychaotic.com/junk/Goreflower.png Drag this into the Spore creature creator to load it up.
It has Patternari coloration and Thirstate worminess. So I dunno. We were okay with leaving it a mystery.
Fair enough Virus…If it ever appears again though, I’d petition for it to keep the name in the file you linked. Heh. Goreflower’s a fun name.
TEAMWORK!
Heh, 69 comments…
… Oh GOD DAMMIT!
Ya’ know, the more I look at the…”Beamstaff” I guess…I can’t help but think that it classifies as “Awesome But Impracticle”. I mean one slash with a Beam Sword could split that thing in two. I guess it’s okay for fighting Daemons but I’d prefer a regular Beam Sword anyday.
Daemon Hunters spar with each other but don’t usually fight, and Daemons don’t often have vorpal-esque blades that can actually cut such a thing.
That said, there’s a reason why most Demon Hunters favour the sword. :)
Man. The difference in camaraderie is very appearant. I can’t figure out if its just butheaded banter on their part or what.
