#465 – The Race Card
September 18th, 2013 |
The end. This was basically done by Monday night. Then I realised I hadn’t drawn the lawyers. So I sat on releasing it, with the hope that I could make some small adjustments to panel 3 and squeeze them in. But between work and maybe starting to get sick, it proved to be a bigger job than that, and in the end, fuck it.
Ahh, extreme violence, is there any problem you don’t solve?
World Peace?
No no, things would be quite peaceful if we all killed each other, wouldn’t you say?
Technically yes.
pretty sure enough violence can solve that too. the dead are pretty peaceful afterall
I think that being extremely violent with anyone who was not peaceful would make the remainder become incredibly peaceful.
Or else.
Violence—when it doesn’t solve your problems, you simply aren’t using enough
I think that’s a maxim….
close
Maxim 6: If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.
Maxim #6? I googled that, but I don’t quite think that the first result that pops up is what you are referencing…
Which Maxim # is that then? ;)
Bugger, need to read down before commenting :D
ok il be honest i imagined east messing it up to the point where lothars violence was what would have saved them, not be part of the reason they won
I have nothing more to say other than Lothar’s last line made me laugh out loud :)
“and in the end, fuck it.”
that’s almost like the plot point of every arc in this comic.
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
we don’t need no stinking morals
The prosecution are Inquisition contractors? I think that explains the situation much better. Eastwood’s histrionics and Lothar’s subtlety implied coercion were just like the icing on the cake.
… Oh, wow.
Lothar has sure learned to solve his problems with violence.
Then again, anyone who can’t see that is blind. And deaf. And under a rock. And… well… you get the point.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, do any of you want to be in the room when they try to take my client into custody?”
I thought Lothar was diplomatically immune since he works with the inquisitors
he’s immune on things he does whilst working for the inquisition. when he does something in his free time, it’s still on his head
Nah, it just that digital piracy apparently rates higher on the scale than genocide. The RIAA, or its equivalent, must have bought out alot of politicians to make it so.
you can get away with murder, you can walk away with treason, you can start a nuclear, frickin’ holocaust, but commit digital piracy and suddenly everyone has a hardon for putting you behind bars
“Oh, I’m sorry, dear serial killer, but I’m picking up signals that a higher priority target is upstairs in that house across the street is taking place. He is…pirating porn! Oh the humanity!”
thank you for putting a big fat grin on my face, I needed a good laugh
everything up to genoside, they take music (and cereal) piracy crazy serious here, but prolly not the one involving stealing boats.
Technically, I think that’s for everything after he joined.
Before though, I think he’s still wanted for. Just so happens nobody wants to try and arrest him?
Nah, his record got wiped for joining. Says so on the cast page.
And besides, every ops team that has tried to “erase” him on an unofficial basis has failed miserably, costing the Inquisition a fortune from the Black Ops Budget.
So what happened, Virus?
Gah, this is like waiting after a Friday comic on a 5-days-a-week comic scheduled. :p
Nothing like pulling the race card and a spine to prove a murder machine innocent.
Would imagine Lothar would have to break the arms first to help the spine to slide out easier, and a lot of twisting.
Simmons planned this to get those two goits out of the way didn’t he?
it does seem dangerously efficient as simmons
I love how smug east looks in the first 2 panels.
Phoenold Eastwright, Ace Attorney.
I don’t know, after reading the artists attempt to figure out a way to squeeze in the lawyers, I personally think the setup works better this way. Because, the justice system appears more universal. It could take place in any country. If you see the lawyers and the judge in country or territorial formals it takes you out of the story rather than allowing the imagination to run free. Although, it would have provided a good laugh for the audience to see a kangaroo as a judge.
The Race Card being played by Eastwood now I’ve seen everything.
I think Lothar’s expression on the last panel closely resembles the expression that Lt. Pi from another popular web comic gets sometimes when told to make with a big boom.
Beating a snake with his only bone the vertebrae. Ah yes Lothar you and your antics
The lawyers appeared briefly in the first Morth Arc when Schaufner was screaming about sympathizers and having to be sedated.
Heh, hadn’t realized that the last line was a link till now directly to the comic.
Eastwood used Race Card, it was super effective!
I’m pretty sure it’s what got our crappy president in office, so why not get an echidna an innocence verdict?
Yes, 2/3rds of the electoral college was swayed not by compelling arguments or political reasoning, but purely by racial guilt.
Twice.
I don’t claim nor pretend to know anything about politics, but I know when someone has screwed up, and our president has screwed up BIG TIME, he has no business being in office, and honestly, I’m pissed at the senate too, thanks to them, the financial shithole we’re in has only gotten deeper
and besides, it was really more of voter fraud the second time around, idk, I’m not even sure it’s true, I guess I’m just pissed since he hasn’t done a damn thing to help our failing nation
Political discourse has no place in this forum, but I’ll note that it’s troubling that the first thing that comes up for you when someone says ‘race card’ is the US president, even if your reasons for disliking the president aren’t explicitly racist.
Whatever problems he has, being black shouldn’t be considered one of them.
Aw, the prosecutor wasn’t Godot? Did he at least have a cool visor?
Wait….do snakes evean have spines?
That’s about all they have besides a skull in terms of bones.
I love how super excited virus looks. So cute. Love lothars expression in the last one. Classic.
