#508 – Cleanup In Church Aisle
July 21st, 2015 |
To address concerns in the comments: relax guys. We got one more to wrap up the arc. I want to do an epilogue, and a strip or two to ride off into the sunset, but that will probably be a couple months down the line.
T-shirt purchasers: We’re having trouble contacting a few people for payment. If you’ve received an invoice, please pay it soon. If you need more time, or want to cancel, that’s fine, just let us know. If you filled out an order form and haven’t heard from us at all, perhaps our emails aren’t reaching you, so contact us at Sales@PerfectlyChaotic.com
Is… is this it?
Wait, It’s ending?
Mate, you are as late to the party as pallosalama
That’d be a hilariously awkward ending for this strip. “We were going to have a big finale, but instead we’ll … just walk away.”
TO be fair they did have something special. He got to walk away alive and she didn’t eat him.
I’m sure that’s never happened before.
And yet, somehow fitting. That’s the way things go sometimes, and it WAS a huge ordeal to get to the point of being able to capture Vitani.
Also, I’m willing to guess that Vitani can spin this to her advantage, eventually. She’s probably got moles in the inquisition. And the government. Heck, there are probably a few dog catchers who are Patternari Cultists.
Well I mean… This can’t be it right? They wouldn’t go out like this. I’m sure there’s at least a little more, just to wrap things up, after this. Right?… right..?
Yes, I hope there’s more. A couple more to wrap things up, an ending EN, its creators and fans, really deserve.
I am surprised a “malicious bug woman” such as Leyana displays such a lack of imagination… ;)
… Then again now that I think about it, I must admit that personnaly it is the abdomen, more than the legs, that gives me pause about the mechanics. It seems it would restrict the positions somewhat…
Kinda surprised there isn’t a “What of the babies?!?” moment.
There’s that cute “Spoiled-Daemon-Princess-not-getting-what-she-wants” expression again!
Shame about the series ending.
Vitani in Panel 3 embodies the ethos of ‘Daemon stuck in a jar.’ Pouty, bored, waiting for something to happen.
Also, are those vacuum cleaners on the Mech? The other way to get rid of arachnids.
Nah, I’m pretty sure those are just claws.
I’d assumed they were firearms of some sort. I know that EN is pretty thoroughly divorced from 40K, but the suit still reminds me vaguely of a Tau Riptide battlesuit.
And Lothar is nowhere to be seen. Must be rounding up all the booze in vicinity.
A whole monastery of sacramental liquor.
He’s walking away… and just in time, IMO. Hell, he’s already got enough trouble with keeping a demonic pet without adding “aiding and abetting the escape of a Patternari daemon princess” to the list of things to purge him for. V
Now so long as them coming here wasn’t the reason she revealed herself, failed to kill them, and make the bell shine with her own ability to manipulate Harry’s head, and isn’t being captured cause it was her divine plan the whole time…
Yeaaaah, that’s probably not it, but it would explain a lot. XD
At the beginning of the arc, the tour guide said that the site was a critical ward against daemonic incursion. How much do you want to bet that the sacred relic they’re now removing the site is the keystone to said ward? Or, alternately, that it’s been trapping her in the area all this time, and will lose its functionality when removed from the temple grounds?
I’m just hoping the true ending is Eastwood smirking into the camera and saying “Well, we know for whom the bell tolls!” and putting on his sunglasses as a huge YEAAAAAHHHH! scrolls across!
Or an awkward laugh freeze frame with credits rolling a la Night Court. I could support that as an ending.
Or the Police Squad style fake freeze while the background keeps on moving.
Virus, dude. Please don’t end it like this.
Niiice way to take the wind out of Zuviel’s sails. And I love all the Black Guard specialists being in hazmat suits while the worker *immediately above the daemon princess* is just wearing a hard hat. :D
(P.S. Character expressions, as always, are absolutely spot on. Splendid work.)
Love the PKE meter in panel one.
Watched silently the whole time from the very begining of this comic.
Feels like something would die inside with its ending.
To the subject:
I think that the one of the good ending would be something that will remind us about the start of the whole story.
Not the very “original” ending though…
Leyana clearly has forgotten that this particular Patternari demon can shapeshift and cast illusions. It would be the height of simplicity for the orifice in question to be where Virus expected it to be.
well to answer her question…somewhere in that thing is a pussy…..we just need to figure where…that is…if we dare to figure……i mean do we really need to know this???…like seriously…. i really think no one need to find out the unholyness behind this…..
Been watching this lil’ baby ever since 2010.
Read Almost 6 years worth of comic in one single night.
That webcomic was awesome.
I’m going to miss it , But I’m sure of one thing :
I’ll often come back to the archives..
At least, to read my favorite moments like a kid trying to finds the comic book sections in a library.
See you, mobian inquisitor.
Seems like my favorite webcomics always end in pairs.
First Darken and Dominic Deegan, now Weesh and Exterminatus Now. It’s been a good run; thanks guys.
Five bucks says that the Patternari Demon Princess will escape.
I’m going to miss this comic, but twelve years is a hell of a run for a webcomic. And better to go out because you want to rather than because no one is still reading you. Thank you for all the fun.
And on to the ending. It seems to me that the Patternari God maybe decided Vitani was getting to be a threat, so set up this convoluted situation to get rid of her. After all, wouldn’t that be something that the Patternari God would do? Especially likely if she helped Vitani get out of the void in the first place. Give her a thousand years or so of success, then slap her down via some incompetent but very lucky mortals. I would think that would be a good way to disarm and humiliate a proud Demon Princess. Of course, if the god is bored, this would be a good way to get a Demon Princess to challenge her, thus bringing a little excitement into her existence.
Gods! The possibilities are almost endless, and could feed someone’s paranoia for centuries, if not millennia!
Gotta go now. Some guys in white coats are at the door and they say they have a new tinfoil hat for me.
Wow, I kinda…don’t really know how to deal with this. I started reading this comic in high school, during the space station spider arc. My favorite parts were the Morth bits and…reading the comments that were posted here. This comic drew us all together as fans, and without this comic updating anymore, interest will fade away. I guess the biggest question on my mind now is…
Jeez, guys….what the fuck do we do now?
We make a Dark Heresy campaign themed on this?
It’s my best shot, if no-one wants to do that… well, we get on with our lives a little bit emptier than before.
Someone will probably make a tumblr blog about it..
And some crazy people in 1D4chan are gonna write a game about it.
All we need is love, courage, and an actually working forum.
I am one of those crazy 1D4 people, unfortunately I’m not too familiar with Dark Heresy (Much to my current displeasure), more of a Pathfinder, DFRPG, and Call of Cthulhu player.
But we have roll20 for using as a table top, Skype for communication, Myth-weaver for storing our Character sheets, and the unlimited resources of the internet to find the rules, this should be doable
The Warhammer 40K systems aren’t too different from D20 once you get past the core system. Instead of rolling 1d20+modifiers and trying to roll more than your target, you roll 1d100 and try to roll less than your target+modifiers, and instead of getting bonuses to skill checks (here called ‘tests’) for high stats, your stats are the base you roll against before applying difficulty modifiers (increments of 10, analogous to circumstance mods), equipment mods, and any relevant training you’ve spent XP on. Oh, and miscellaneous bonuses like allies Assisting. Come to think of it, that’s another difference: you can spend XP as you go, rather than leveling up after milestones; the milestones just unlock new tables of better things to spend it on.
I could go on and on, but it’s easier to just tell you to check /tg/’s catalog for the 40K RPG general thread.
The possibilities are unlimited. Heck, we don’t have to limit ourselve to dark Heresy and the such.
Simpler games are fine too (and that’s probably what I’ll go for, because I am but a newbie in the world of tabletop Rpgs. I don’t mind trying in a familiar universe however )
Apoc World should suit that fine, it might end up being a little weird though (That’s what Apoc World is all about)
I will really miss this series.
Well. I hope this is not the final one, but if it is, no can do. You guys made hundreds of these, and they were all great.
On the bright side, my merchandise bundle finally arrived few days ago, and I love the shirt! Cheers.
Looks like they’re going with the postcard idea. Just more hightech… and holy.
Looking closer at the details of the first panel, I just now noticed what the hazmat suited guy on the bottom left is holding.
“Who you gonna call?”, indeed…
I am still wondering “which one did the Fry-Ups?” Because given that they named Smitty, and Jonesy it could well be Barry, “level 2 warlord”.
It will be sad to see the end of the strip, but it was awesome while it lasted.
Also, my merch has arrived! Love the shirt, although the paper stuff was slightly bent in the mail. Still really cool though!
