That “Not necessarily” seems to be foreshadowing something.
Prognostication, anyone?
The Hound’s greater daemon has lost some of it’s blood but I doubt it’s dead, in fact if anything’s it just gonna be ticked off. I’d say it’s foreshadowing that it’s gonna come out and fight Morth, and something tells me that a greater demon of war is gonna be stronger in combat than a demon prince of trickery.
The thought occurs to me that this has gone way too well for Morth given the nature of patternari demons, and the fact that the method for becoming this demon prince involved Hound Demon blood.
Some possibilities: Morth’s will will be subverted by the Hound in question, or this form is temporary unless he does something specific for the patterner. They never did say what he was chosen FOR

Thing is, only a select few ever earn that kind of reward. Most just get damned and have their souls devoured. Morth and cult leaders like him do, of course, leave that part in the very fine print.
The Just gods do offer a more widely accessible sort of eternity. Mort is keeper of the dead, but they are reduced to barely-aware shadows, they’ll never walk in the mortal plain again, and honestly his kingdom is kinda dull. Much easier to get into though. So it’s a risk-reward scenario.
Plus, the Just gods have granted angelic acension to a few mortals of their own. Fewer limbs and teeth, not so monstery, so that’s a downside. But a great hero like Saint Atreyus may still be around in one form or another. If so, he kind of has no excuse for forgetting about the trapped souls in the bookend.

That would be a massive no if that was forshadowing. Seriously- no hero gives a shit after death.
Evil still sounds more fun, though…

Jokes aside, I see two reasons the souls could’ve not been released yet. One, the Saint could potentially be searching the world for a way to release the souls, but been unable to find anyone not-evil who knew how. Two, Angels could be unable to manifest for long in the world without a strong source of void energy, same as demons.
Not to poke in or anything in a sense, but considering the time frame of when the second excursion was to now, what are the odds that if he did ascend into a greater angel type being, that he uh… didn’t become a snack like the last angel we actually got to meet by this time?

We know Virus isn’t on any panels after the team dodge. Though that could just be because Morth chose to go after the ninja and his former friend as opposed to the Cyborg and that guy who messed up the ritual…
I’m going to digress here, and try and guess who’d be the most dangerous to morth (excluding whatever it is East knows/ is trying to use against morth.)
Rouge-while the guy is bringing a sword to a gunfight all the time, he’s VERY well suited for the job of meleeing a daemon-he’s fast, so hard to catch, and that beamsaber probably can cut through near anything, demon flesh included!
Lothar-He pretty much all but has super strength, a laer cannon, and and a chainsaw hand-blade, not to mention those ‘jump jets’, which probably can give him a burst of speed if he needs it. Then again, I’m also a Lothar fanboy, so I probably do overestimate him a bit…
Eastwood-Sharpshooter? I know that gun of his has 7 shots…I’m guessing Eastwood is’ for an inquisitor, a very good fighter, and possibly an excellent gunman, not to mention the reason Morth’s record against these guys in combat is 1 for 2 instead of 2 for 2.
Virus-Seems to be the support guy of the bunch. Probably not high on the danger list in a fight, but more useful in, say, stopping a demon ritual from succeeding.
Someone give the demon a cup of tea and a pipe!

Sarcasm’s a pretty strong troll repellent, too. They feed off of the kind of folks that take everything as SRS BSNS, and they’d probably get snarked into submission prior to getting the boot.

Y’know, now that you mention the eye, seeing as it is a bionic one, and he just ascended to daemonhood, couldn’t he also be considered to be somewhat partial to Fernix?
Speaking of Fernix, something that’s bugged me is the difference between him and Grubbs, the good guy machine god.
The way I see it, Fernix and Grubbs more or less represents how technology itself is neutral-it depends on the person wielding it. Fernix is the negative use of technology and strikes me as something akin to a computer virus in style, warping existing machines and jumping from one machine to another.
Grubbs is more like an AI, improving any machine he’s directly in contact to or something…I’m not too keen on the differences between those two.
